The VOR Trainers divide the area around the VOR into eight area. Each ares is defined by the TO/FROM flag and CDI deflection with respect to the OBS setting. The examples below show what the VOR will indicate if the plane is within the named area. For these examples, the OBS is set to North.

Area 4 and Area 6 are centered plus or minus 90 degrees from the selected OBS indication. The VOR Indicator will be off 12 degrees each side of this point.
