Flight Simulator Setup

The Flight Simulator Setup provides common controls to all Flight Trainer simulators.  Some the controls on this window are also shown on the main Flight Trainer simulator panel for ease of use.

The Controls

• Wind control - determines the wind's direction and speed, and whether to display the direction in the simulator's window.

• Direction - sets the wind's direction
• Speed - sets the wind's speed
• Show indicator - this checkbox shows or hides the wind arrow in the Simulator's window

• Center control - pressing the "Plane" or "Wind" button repositions the plane or wind arrow at the center of the Simulator's window.  You may need to use this if the plane has been flown outside the Simulator's window or the Simulator's window has been zoomed to a desired size which leaves the plane or wind arrow out of view.

• Zoom control - uses a predefined series of sizes that range from 40 nautical miles to 1 nautical mile for the vertical geographic dimension of the display window.

• In - pressing this button zooms the window IN. The window then shows a smaller area of geography within the same sized window.
• Out - pressing this button zooms the window OUT.  The window then shows a larger area of geography in the same sized window.

• Plane heading and speed setup

• Speed - sets the plane's speed to this speed (knots)
• Heading - sets the plane's heading to this direction.  Once the simulator begins running, the plane's heading will be determined by banking the plane.

• Plane track

• Show - when checked displays the plane's track in the simulator's window.
• Reset - when pressed will erase the plane's track to it's current position and will resume drawing from there if Show is checked
