Straight Line Course

Straight Line Course gives you the opportunity to fly along a straight line and observe the effects of wind direction and speed on the ground track. The simulation displays the Turn Coordinator, Directional Gyro, Attitude Indicator, and a crosswind visulation tool.

The Controls

Straight Line setup - allows you to define the size and orientation of the straight line.

Direction - controls the orientation of the rectangle. The "length" lies along the "direction".

Length - dimension in miles

Cross Wind Indicator - displays both a digital and graphic representation of the plane airspeed (green circle), the "wind component" (yellow segment), and ground track speed (blue). It is not an instrument you can find in a plane (boy it would be nice!).

Plane track

Show - when checked displays the plane's track in the simulator's window.
Reset - when pressed will erase the plane's track to it's current position and will resume drawing from there if Show is checked.

Bank/Heading - banks the plane when used with a Simulator or changes the plane's heading when used with a Trainer.

Press the "left" or "right" button to turn the plane in that direction.

As long as you hold the button down, the plane's direction will change.

Simulation Start / Stop button

and red indicates the simulation is stopped. When pressed, the simulation will start. The plane's position will be calculated based on its speed, direction, bank, and the wind's direction and speed.

and green indicates the simulation is running. When pressed, the simulation will stop. The plane's position and heading will no longer change until it is started again. When a simulation is resumed, the plane will begin calculating its position from the point where it was stopped.

Wind Direction arrow - indicates the wind direction. You can select it and position anywhere on the screen. The direction and speed are set with the Wind control in the Flight Simulator Setup..

Setup tab - the Flight Simulator Setup provides common controls to all the Flight Trainer Simulators.
