The Random Intersection Holding Pattern Quiz randomly sets up a intersection holding pattern and randomly locates your plane around the VOR. You are then quizzed on the identification of the hold and the entry to it.
- New plane location - will create a new quiz with the same holding pattern with the plane located at another random position
- New hold - will create a new quiz with a new random holding pattern and clearance and randomly position the plane
- New intersection - will create new random intersection, holding pattern and clearance, and randomly position the plane.
- "The clearance" - displays the clearance for the current holding pattern.
- Color code:
- Yellow - answer this question now
- Red - incorrect answer, try again
- Green - correct
- The steps are:
- Locate radial - a green line will be drawn from the VOR to the mouse pointer - Figure 1. Move the mouse to the correct radial and click the mouse. Your answer is correct if it is within 3 degrees of the correct radial and the radial will be highlighted.
- Locate side - a green line will be drawn from the VOR to the mouse pointer. Move the mouse to the right or left side of the holding pattern radial and click the mouse - Figure 2. Your answer is correct if you have indicated the correct holding side.
- Select entry - click on the radio button to select the most appropriate entry to the holding pattern. Your answer is correct if you select the correct holding pattern entry.
- Outbound heading - a green line will be drawn from the VOR and the mouse pointer. Move the mouse to the heading your will fly after crossing the VOR when first entering the holding pattern. Clue - this question is reduntant unless you're to fly an teardrop entry.
- The following are examples of "Locate radial" and "Locate side":

Figure 1 - Locate radial

Figure 2 - Locate side - in this case "left turns"
Setup tab - the Random Intersection Holding Pattern Setup gives you the ability to change the plane's type and number and the intersection's name.
