ILS and Localizer Setup Panel

The ILS and Localizer Setup Panel provides common controls to all ILS and Localizer Quizes.

The Controls

• Zoom control - uses a predefined series of sizes that ranges from 40 nautical miles to 1 nautical mile for the vertical geographic dimension of the display window.

• In - pressing this button zooms the window IN. The window then shows a smaller area of geography within the same sized window.
• Out - pressing this button zooms the window OUT.  The window then shows a larger area of geography in the same sized window.

• Show HSI / VOR - selects whether to show or hide the HSI or VOR Indicator.

• Localizer setup - determines how the localizer is displayed.

• Heading - for ILS trainers it is recommended that this be either 90 or 270 degrees to take advantage of available screen space.
• Width - the width of the localizer.
• Show back course - shows or hides showing the back course.
• Show centerline - shows or hides the centerline of the localizer and glide slope.
• Show service volume - shows or hides the localizer's service volume.
