Localizer Course Quiz

The Localizer Course Quiz randomly selects a localizer indication and location for the plane - Figure 1.  You are asked to position the plane on a bearing from the Localizer that matches the VOR and HSI indications - Figure 2.

The Localizer Course Quiz manager will prompt you for the steps to complete the answer - Figure 3.

The possible steps are:

1. New Quiz - creates a new localizer indication and displays the VOR and HSI indications.
2. Position plane - once you have positioned the plane, your position will be checked.
3. Quiz Complete! - you have correctly positioned the localizer - Figure 4.
4. Show answer - will highlight the correct areas in green - Figure 4.

The VOR and HSI indications are controlled by the Service Volume of the localizer and Glide Slope. Review how the Service Volume has been implemented to assist you in selecting the correct localizer plane(s).

The Controls

• Quiz Manager - specific details for the Localizer Quiz are described above.

• Correct / Tried - shows the number of attempted and correct answers.
• Reset score - Resets correct and tried to zero.

• Zoom control - uses a predefined series of sizes that ranges from 40 nautical miles to 1 nautical mile for the vertical geographic dimension of the display window.

• In - pressing this button zooms the window IN. The window then shows a smaller area of geography within the same sized window.
• Out - pressing this button zooms the window OUT.  The window then shows a larger area of geography in the same sized window.
