Localizer Trainer

The Localizer Trainer shows you the localizer indication as you move the plane in the Localizer View. You can drag the plane changing its latitude and longitude.

Note - the localizer width is set to 3 times its normal width to allow you to move the plane through the course and see a wider range of indications.

The VOR and HSI indications are controlled by the Service Volume of the localizer and glide slope. Please review how the Service Volume has been implemented.

The Controls

• Drag 'n Release -  Place the mouse over the white spot in the plane and press the left mouse button.  While holding the left mouse button down, drag the plane, and observe the changes in the instrumentation.
• Localizer Control - determines how the localizer is displayed

• Heading - for ILS trainers it is recommended that this be either 90 or 270 degrees to take advantage of available screen space.
• Width - the width of the localizer
• Show back course - shows or hides showing the back course.
• Show centerline - shows or hides the centerline of the localizer and glide slope.
• Show service volume - shows or hides the localizer's service volume.

• The ILS / LOC Indicator displays the distance the plane is from the localizer and glide slope centerlines.

• Lateral - from the centerline of the localizer
• Vertical - from the centerline of the glide slope
• Distance - from the localizer/glide slope "transmitters"

The lateral distance is correct for non-standard width localizers.  The "standard" width used by this version is a 3 degree width.

• Bank/Heading - banks the plane when used with a Simulator or changes the plane's heading when used with a Trainer.

• Press the "left" or "right" button to turn the plane in that direction.
• As long as you hold the button down, the plane's direction will change.
