The Flight Trainer™ v3.0 has three families of training aids to help you
learn and teach different aspects of flight navigation: Ground
Reference, Basic Instruments, and Instrument
Pilot.
You can purchase or rent the Flight
Trainer.
- Ground Reference - provides
simulations for rectangular and straight line courses, traffic patterns, turns
about a point, S-turns, Turns on pylons, and Eights on pylons.
The Ground Reference simulators give you the ability to "fly"
the plane around the different courses provided, change the wind speed and
direction, and observe the impact on the plane's track over the ground.
These simulations give you a "bird's eye" view of the course and
the plane's track and the ability to start and stop the simulation to study
and discuss the observed affects.

for the Ground Reference features is available for your review.

The Ground Reference simulations provide a great way for:
- student pilots to study and learn the effects of wind
on a plane's ground track and speed without the expense of renting a
plane and instructor.
- CFI's to introduce these principles without
the student being distracted by thre realities of flying the plane.
- Basic Instruments - provides
trainers, quizzes and simulations for ADFs, VORs, Dual VORs, and HSIs.
The trainers give you the ability
to position the plane and set it's heading at different locations relative
to a specific navigation aid and see and study the indications on the instrumentation.
The quizzes randomly selects an indication
in the plane for the associated navigation aid and then randomly locates
the plane somewhere around the navigation aid. You are then asked
to position (using the mouse) the plane to the specific course or area from
the aid that would have the same indication in the plane.
The simulations give you the
opportunity to "fly" the plane around the navigation aids observing
changes on the instruments and changing the wind speed and direction. These
simulations give you a "bird's eye" view of the course and the
plane's track and the ability to start and stop the simulation to study
and discuss the observed affects.

Basic Instruments provides a great way for:
- pilots to study and learn a navigation aid's on-board
indications without having to go out to the airport to fly or be distracted
by having to fly a plane while figuring out what the indication means.
- CFI's to introduce these navigation aides without
the student being distracted by the realities of flying the plane.
The ILS and Localizer quizzes each provide two different quizzes:
- The "planes"
quiz randomly positions a number of planes about localizer and glide
slope and randomly chooses a glide slope and/or localizer indication
that is correct for one or more of the planes. You are asked to
select (with the mouse) which plane(s) would have the displayed indication
(this is like the FAA Instrument written test questions).
- The "course"
quiz randomly chooses a glide slope and/or localizer indication.
You are asked to position (with the mouse) the plane on a course line
or location that would have that indication.
The Intersection Holds provides two ways of creating intersections:
- Random
intersections where the Flight Trainer randomly generates an intersection.
You can change the name of the intersection but not it radials.
- Custom
intersections where you can define the radials and their nomenclature
and the name of the intersection to match your favorite (the one the
DE will ask you to fly on you checkride!!) intersection. The Flight
Trainer then randomly positions the plane and which radial the hold
is positioned on.

Instrument Pilot provides a great way for:
- pilots to study and learn a navigation aid's on-board
indications without having to go out to the airport to fly or be distracted
by having to fly a plane while figuring out what that indication means.
- CFI's to introduce these navigation aides without
the student being distracted by the realities of flying the plane.
